Mold needs moisture to survive, so needless to say it is impossible to keep the outdoors dry. For this reason it can be very difficult to prevent and get rid of mold growth outdoors. Mold is a very useful tool in nature; it helps break down dead matter and can be found in soil, plant material, and on any other organic material. The spores produced by mold are easily spread through the outdoor air and are virtually everywhere. Anywhere there is moisture and organic material you can have mold.
While some mold that is growing on grasses, plants, compost piles and many other natural places need not be dealt with. Mold does have its place in the environment. There are places that we should be concerned about mold growing and coming into direct contact with humans and our material things. Nobody wants to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on our homes to have them destroyed by mold.
Some of the more common places for mold growth are decks, Jacuzzis, cement pads especially under pools or planters, wood or cement planters, the siding of homes, and many other locations. Mold on these surfaces digests and damages the underlying surface. Mold can also make surfaces slimy and slippery. Mold spores are airborne and can cause a variety of health concerns. Mold can grow not only on the top surfaces of things but the underlying surfaces. It is important when searching for mold that you look underneath things such as decks, Jacuzzis and planters.
Mold in the outdoor environment may be especially challenging to get under control therefore immediate attention at the first sign of mold is imperative. The faster you get the mold cleaned and under control the more time and money you save on cleaning and possibly replacing your property.
To use MOLD*OFF, spray onto contaminated area and walk away. Leave it for atleast 12 hours. Then take a damp cloth and wipe off. Apply another layer of MOLD*OFF and leave on to help inhibit growth.
