Mold in Cars and RVs

Mold in cars, rv's, vans, trucks, etc. can be a nuisance if left untreated. We spend a great portion of our lives in our car and, if we travel, even more in our RV. It is safe to say out of all the dangers we face in our vehicles one of the last ones we usually think about is air quality. If we have mold in a vehicle that we are driving in or even working on we can be exposed to very dangerous mycotoxins. Mycotoxins are potentially hazardous vapors produced by mold spores. We are exposed to these vapors by ingesting or inhaling them and by surface exposure on the skin and eyes.

Automobiles and RVs have many places mold can grow, many times undetected for some time. If left to multiply the spores may eventually enter the ventilation system, if this is not the case to begin with. Mold needs moisture to grow, even in very dry climates something as simple as a spilled drink can be enough to support a mold colony. Weather seals and gaskets throughout time will start to erode allowing the entrance of moisture into the car (or other vehicle choice). This is especially common in older vehicles and/or those that have been exposed to direct sunlight for long periods of time.

Ventilation systems also pose some problems with moisture control. Ventilation systems have condensers in them and if they have clogged or blocked water lines you may get a build up of condensation. Mold in your ventilation system will be circulated in your vehicle and inhaled by you.

Most RVs contain refrigerators and bathrooms in them. These areas have dark moist conditions optimal for mold growth. It is important when inspecting for mold you look inside cabinets and under seats and hard to reach places. Mold spores start to grow as soon as twenty four hours after exposure to moisture, therefore it is important to give your vehicle a very thorough inspection as often as you can.

Once you find mold in your vehicle you can remove and kill it using MOLD*OFF. MOLD*OFF is also a great way to prevent mold from growing, especially if you intend on leaving your vehicle parked for an extended period of time. An RV or car that is parked tends to get stagnant air, dirt collection, and condensation build up due to lack of moving air. These make for prime conditions for mold to grow and multiply. And the longer mold goes undetected the harder it is to remove.

To use MOLD*OFF in your car, spray onto contaminated area and walk away. Leave it for atleast 12 hours. Then take a damp cloth and wipe off. Apply another layer of MOLD*OFF and leave on to help inhibit growth.

MOLD*OFF can also be used to get rid of mold in the home, on your boat, on outdoor surfaces and more.
